I am joining in over at We Are THAT family for “Works for Me Wednesday” and as I was pondering what has been working well for us lately the public library came to mind immediately.
As a child, I went to the library to take out books and went to story hour. Now there is so much more. We get museum passes, borrow DVD’s and audio books, and download audio books. There is an inter-library loan system including most of the state and we can utilize all of the services at any of those libraries too.
This has allowed me to stop buying most adult books and audio books. I borrow DVD’s for the kids before I buy them. We visit museums that I would not visit as often or for a quick visit if I were paying out-of –pocket. We have participated in children’s music and movement classes and plan on starting story hour. One of our local libraries also has a daily craft that we will check out, as the boy’s get older. The possibilities are many and FREE. But mostly I am grateful that my children are learning to love to read and experience their worlds.
I used to love the library. But then I got a job there, got let go, and I haven’t been back since.
Welcome to WFMW! My new blog group just joined recently, too. I agree, the library is an awesome resource. Glad you have discovered some of the perks that many moms overlook. We love to check out music and story time is great.
